It was a very exciting day this past weekend at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the Indiana Stage finals. All of the games outside of the 1A finals were very close.
Former Indiana guard Matt Roth won the 2A finals leading his Blackhawk Christian team over former Indiana target Joey Hart and Linton-Stockton. Ben Davis completed their perfect season by beating Flory Bidunga and Kokomo.
Here is the latest with Indiana’s recruiting movements.
Mike Woodson, Kenya Hunter, Yasir Rosemond, and Brian Walsh were first in the building to see 5-star center Flory Bidunga in the 4A finals against Ben Davis.
John Calipari, Tom Izzo, Juwan Howard, Bruce Pearl, and assistants from Kansas and Butler were also present. Cincinnati has limited visits remaining with Bidunga so they were not in attendance.
Michael Lewis was courtside for Ben Davis center Zane Doughty who they would later offer faster he was granted his NLI release from Valparaiso.
Bidunga started the game slowly but took advantage of Doughty getting in foul trouble and scored at an efficient rate, including converting an alley-pop while getting fouled, one of the better plays I’ve ever seen.
Also worth mentioning, Walsh was sitting courtside for the 2A championship to see Blackhawk Christian's Kellen Pickett play. The 6'8" PF had a great game and was integral in shutting down Linton-Stockton's Joey Hart in the second half after Hart scored 18 points in the first two quarters.
He's not going to blow you away like Jalen Haralson or Trent Sisley, at least not yet. But look out for Pickett to be a "late" bloomer in the class of 2025.
Montverde Academy was upset by Matas Buzelis and Sunrise Christian (KS) in the first round of the Geico Nationals.
I forecasted McNeeley to Indiana last week due to the lingering speculation that Rodney Terry would not be hired by Texas. Now that Terry has been hired as the permanent head coach they are in a much better position for McNeeley compared to if they were to hire from the outside.
It seems Terry's players love playing for him, Texas is a worthy competitor to Indiana in the bidding for McNeeley. However, I am still confident in my forecast of McNeeley to Indiana. Indiana was there early and they has been very consistent.

Indiana Transfer Targets: Vol. 2 dropped last night with multiple updates in terms of Indiana's activity in the portal. I have not heard a lot about Wyoming center Graham Ike since Indiana's initial contact with the 6'9" 225 lb talent. I'm seeing that Kansas is also heavily involved.
Indiana landed commitment from Ball State transfer Payton Sparks early Wednesday morning.
Tamar Bates and Jordan Geronimo have both entered the transfer portal. Jalen Hood-Schifino declared for the NBA Draft Friday morning. Indiana currently has four open scholarship spots on next season's roster.
