Quotable:
"He was a three-star for awhile because I always liked him, but he's an undersized kid. But after awhile, he just made so many plays. Every time you saw him, he would always stand out, stand out, stand out. At some point, the skillset that he has - the speed and how polished is as a defensive back - kind of supersede the size issues." -Rivals recruiting analyst Rob Cassidy
Scouting report:
• Mullen has long arms and good closing speed for a cornerback. He's shorter than a prototypical corner, but fortunately, his wingspan should make up for that.
• He's thin for a corner, but should be able to put on the requisite weight to hold up against bigger wide receivers in the Big Ten. If he can add that weight, Mullen has a chance to be very good at Indiana.
2019 projection:
Mullen could redshirt to add some weight, but he's also good enough to see playing time quickly for the Hoosiers. Regardless, Mullen should play in at least four games this year due to the NCAA's new redshirt rule. If he plays more will be determined by how quickly he can ascend the cornerback depth chart.
