JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. -- A change of scenery was just all that was needed, apparently.
After losing Game 1 in Louisville, Ky., the Indiana Junior All-Stars bounced back to defeat Kentucky 142-105 Monday night at Jeffersonville (Ind.) High's Johnson Arena and split this year's series between the two squads.
Indiana played up-tempo from the start and jumped out to a 74-50 lead by halftime. It led by as many as 40 points in the second half.
Indiana scored 30 points off 24 Kentucky turnovers while only committing eight of its own. Including 2020 IU target and Culver (Ind.) Academy guard Trey Galloway's 10 points, six different Indiana players finished with double-figure scoring efforts: Indianapolis Lawrence North's Tony Perkins (22), Jeffersonville (Ind.) High's Tre Coleman (22), Indianapolis Lawrence Central product and Nebraska commit Dre Davis (19), Mishawaka (Ind.) Marian product and Purdue commit Jaden Ivey (18), Topeka (Ind.) Westview's Charlie Yoder (14).
Both Galloway and fellow 2020 IU target Anthony Leal once again started for Indiana after doing so in Game 1 Sunday night.
Galloway, a three-star guard, scored his 10 points in 16 minutes. He shot 5 of 8 from the floor and added two blocks.
Leal, a four-star guard from Bloomington (Ind.) High School South, added five points in 15 minutes. He shot 1 of 2 from the floor and 3 of 4 from the free throw line, adding three assists and two steals.
Indianapolis Lawrence Central point guard Nijel Pack, who has IU interest and is looking to visit campus this month, chipped in eight points in 19 minutes as a starter.
Monday night's matchup featured the core Junior All-Stars plus the White group. The core group consists of Pack, Leal, Galloway, Davis, Ivey and Yoder. The White Group was comprised of Barrett, Perkins, Coleman, Crispus Attucks' Sincere McMahon, Bedford (Ind.) North Lawrence's Brayton Bailey, Lafayette (Ind.) Central Catholic's Carson Barrett and Kokomo (Ind.) Northwestern's Tayson Parker.
The Indiana Junior All-Stars will face the Senior All-Stars Wednesday night at New Castle Fieldhouse in New Castle, Ind following the girls' game, which tips off at 6 p.m. eastern time. In addition to targets Leal and Galloway, 2019 IU signees Trayce Jackson-Davis and Armaan Franklin will also be in action on the senior team.
