The Indiana football program has had one of the top defensive units in the country over the last few years. In 2021, however, it took a step back, something it is looking to improve on this upcoming year.

A main reason for the success on that side of the ball is due to defensive back TIawan Mullen. He was an All-American in 2020 but was derailed by injuries most of last season.

He has also earned Freshman All-American and All-Big Ten first honors throughout his career as well.

Mullen returns in 2022 looking to embrace a leadership role and get back to playing at the level he did in 2020.

Since he stepped foot on campus in 2019, he has been one of the top cornerbacks in the country and the numbers match that statement.

According to ProFootballFocus, Mullen is the top power five defensive back when it comes to run support.

He has a rating of 93.3, nearly an entire point higher than second.

In his three seasons, he has amassed 85 tackles, 19 passed deflected, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and three interceptions.
