Indiana football's defense has a new look to it this offseason under new head coach Curt Cignetti.

In his first offseason with the Hoosiers, Cignetti has brought in a number of talented players via the transfer portal.

Three of those incoming transfers are graded as top 10 defensive transfers in the country, per Pro Football Focus.

Corner back D'Angelo Ponds, defensive lineman CJ West, and defensive back Shawn Asbury II all rank as top 10 defensive transfers coming into the 2024 season.

Following his head coach over from James Madison this offseason, Ponds was a big get for the Hoosiers given Indiana's thin secondary.

A season ago with the Dukes, Ponds was named a freshman All-American, racking up 52 tackles, 12 pass deflections and two interceptions.

Ponds' PFF rating of 89.7 has him as the third highest graded defensive transfer in the entire country. He was also rated as a top returning Big Ten cornerback ahead of the upcoming season by PFF.

West, a 6-foot-2, 315 pound defensive lineman, comes over to Indiana by way of Kent State this offseason.

Another big time addition this summer for the Hoosiers, West tallied 40 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks and one forced fumble during his final season with the Golden Flashes.

West ranked seventh on the list of defensive transfers this offseason, with a PFF rating of 85.9.

Asbury is the final Hoosier to find himself rated as one of the top defensive transfers in the nation. Earlier in the offseason, Asbury was also graded as one of the top returning safeties in the Big Ten.

The 5-foot-10, 197 pound defensive back registered 93 tackles last season at Old Dominion. He added six tackles for loss, four pass breakups and an interception en route to being named an All-Sun Belt Honorable Mention.

Asbury's PFF grade of 83.4 slots the DB as the ninth highest rated defensive transfer in the country.
