Off The Field Q&A With IU Commit Derrius Mullins

Derrius Mullins might just be the most talented commit in Indiana's 2017 class.

The three-star defensive tackle out of Columbus, Ohio, committed to the Hoosiers July 30, 2016 and is ranked No. 31 among defensive tackles nationally and No. 22 in the state of Ohio. His 5.7 Rivals Rating is tied with Juan Harris for the highest mark among IU commits.

But just who is Derrius Mullins anyway?

TheHoosier.com caught up with Mullins to discuss a few off-the-field topics to try and get to know him a little better.

Q: If you could only bring one thing to your dorm, what would it be?

A: Probably my phone. I couldn't go without that.

Q: What stood out the most about Bloomington when you first saw campus?

A: When I first visited I didn't know what to expect. Indiana pretty much blew me away. The energy of the students was great. People pretty much support every sport at IU, and that's something I wanted to be a part of.

Q: If you could play with or against one other player, who would it be?

A: With? Man, that's a hard question.

Probably Ray lewis.

Q: Outside of football, what do you like to do the most?

A: My second love in sports is track and field.

What events?

A: I shot-put and throw discuss.

Q: Do you know what you want to study yet?

A: I'm probably going to go into communications. I kind of want to be a sports analyst or something like that.

Q: If I gave you all the money in the world to travel wherever you wanted, where would you go?

A: I always said I wanted to go to Hawaii one time. So I'd go there.
