Kevin Wilson released his third depth chart of the year Tuesday ahead of IU's 4 p.m. Saturday kickoff against Ball State at Memorial Stadium.
Read through the depth chart in the Tweet below or skip a little further down for the notable changes.
Keep in mind that Wilson doesn't put too much stock into providing accurate depth charts from week to week, but here's a few things to note:
- Coy Cronk and Brandon Knight are listed as co-starters at left tackle one week after Cronk took the starting spot against FIU. IU tight ends coach James Patton told TheHoosier.com Tuesday that he was beginning to take Knight back into the tight end room in the aftermath of Jordan Fuchs' injury, which might mean the left tackle spot actually belongs to Cronk. Regardless, both are listed as the starter for now.
- Speaking of tight end, Austin Dorris popped on this week's two-deep as the backup tight end along with Ian Thomas behind Danny Friend. The coaching staff has been high on both of these backups, particularly Dorris, who wasn't a tight end by trade coming out of high school and performed well in limited action, mostly in the run game, last week.
- Ben Bach is listed as the No. 2 cornerback behind Rashard Fant. This is a bit confusing considering Bach was initially slated to jump in at the husky spot, but he started at corner against the Golden Panthers and appears to be floating between each position. Freshman A'Shon Riggins, who was praised for his work against FIU, is listed as Bach's backup.
- Tony Fields is listed as the starter at safety ahead of Chase Dutra, who was suspended last week and is expected to return this weekend against Ball State. Fields did well in Dutra's place, making a tackle and recording a pass breakup without any major hiccups in between.
- Not surpisingly, Marcelino Ball has jumped into the starting spot at husky after starting there last week. It seems like Ball, barring a major setback, has won that spot for the long-term.
- Patrick Dougherty, another under-the-radar player who took advantage of a teammate's suspension against FIU, is listed as a starting defensive tackle. This comes a week after he replaced the suspended Ralph Green.
- Simmie Cobbs is still listed as a starter at receiver after being suspended last week.
