Following the 2024 NBA Draft earlier this week, it's officially free agency season around the NBA.

Heading into the offseason, there were a couple of Hoosiers to keep an eye on in free agency.

One former Bloomington standout signed lucrative contract extension to stay with his team, while another has opted out of his contract to test free agency.

OG ANUNOBY

Former IU forward OG Anunoby agreed to a five-year, $212.5 million contract extension earlier this week with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The contract extension is the biggest NBA contract for any former Indiana basketball player ever.

The deal also includes a player option and a trade kicker, per Wojnarowski.

Across two seasons in Bloomington with the Hoosiers Anunoby averaged 6.8 points and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting 56.3% from the floor.

Ever since he was selected with the No. 23 pick in the 2017 draft by the Toronto Raptors, Anunoby has become one of the top defenders in the association.

After coming over from Toronto mid-season, Anunoby averaged 14.1 points and 4.3 rebounds with the Knicks. With Anunoby on the floor a season ago, the Knicks went 20-3.

The former Indiana wing is running it back in New York, as the Knicks appear to be going all-in for a championship after trading for Mikal Bridges just a few days ago.

ERIC GORDON

Former Hoosier guard Eric Gordon has opted out of his $3.4 million player option for the 2024-25 season with the Phoenix Suns, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 16-year vet who played one season from 2007-08 at Indiana, will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

After being named Indiana Mr. Basketball in 2007 at North Central High School in Indianapolis, Gordon -- who was originally committed to Illinois -- joined Kelvin Sampson and the Hoosiers, leading the Big Ten in scoring during his lone season in Bloomington.

Now, after over his almost two decades in the NBA, Gordon has a career earnings north of $179 million. Gordon has played for the Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans, Houston Rockets and most recently the Phoenix Suns.

This past season with the Suns, Gordon averaged11.0 points a night and shot 37.8% from 3-point range, mostly coming off the bench in Phoenix.

A 35-year-old veteran, Gordon will likely garner interest from a handful of contending teams looking for shooting and experience.
