A number of Indiana basketball recruiting targets are in action this week.
Some are playing in USA Basketball tryouts in Colorado Springs, Colo., while others are the NBPA Top 100 camp in Charlottesville, Va.
Indianapolis Park Tudor 2017 forward Jaren Jackson Jr. began the week by making the USA 17U World Championship team.
The 6-foot-10 versatile forward was one of 12 players named to the team after workouts. Jackson is one of six new members of the team; the other six were part of the USA’s 16U team last season.
Jackson is one of three class of 2017 players to make the team who are only 16 years old, along with Troy Brown and Kevin Knox.
The USA, the defending 17U gold medalists, play in the 17U World Championships June 23-July 3 in Zaragoza, Spain.
The training camp runs through Friday.
“We always look for guys who are versatile and can play multiple positions and I think we have that,” said USA 17U coach Don Showalter. “I like our size, and when you go play international at this level, you are going to play against bigger bodies. I also think we have a good mix of shooters and slashers.”
