One of Indiana women's basketball's top targets is set to make her commitment soon.
Columbus Dispatch reporter Andrew Erickson Tweeted that former Pitt forward Brenna Wise will decide between Dayton, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State and Villanova. The Hoosiers have been in the running for the 6-foot forward's commitment since she announced her intention to leave Pitt near the end of March.
Wise, who will need to sit out a season due to NCAA transfer rules, led Pitt with 14.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game over 30 starts as a sophomore. She also made a second appearance in as many years on the All-ACC Academic Team.
“Brenna was a strong representative of the University of Pittsburgh and we wish her the best of luck as she pursues opportunities elsewhere,” Panther head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio said in a statement when the team announced Wise's release. “As a program, we will continue to recruit and develop well-rounded, team-oriented student-athletes. It is a privilege to be part of the foundation of a winning culture. We remain committed to our core values of academic achievement, athletic excellence and community connection, and we are excited about our future.”
With true power forward Amanda Cahill entering her final season and plenty of questions surrounding who will start at center this upcoming season, there's plenty of reason for IU head coach Teri Moren to want Wise on her roster.
