Indiana freshman wide receiver Kiante Enis, 19, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of child molestation, Randolph County chief deputy Doug Fritz confirmed to TheHoosier.com
According to a release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, Enis was arrested Thursday after detectives on Wednesday received a report of a possible relationship between "Kiante Christopher Enis and a child 13 years of age or younger."
In interviews with the sheriff's department, both parties admitted to "a consensual sexual encounter that occurred on at least 2 occasions in Randolph County."
Enis was booked in Randolph County Jail on Thursday and is still being held at the facility, with a bond under $20,000. According to the release from the department, Child Molestation is a Level 3 felony which, upon conviction, carries a penalty of up to 16 years in prison and fine of up to $10,000.
The incident marks the third run-in with the law this month and second this week alone for the IU football program.
Early Wednesday morning, redshirt junior and backup kicker Aaron Del Grosso was arrested for public intoxication and criminal trespassing after a dispute with an ex-girlfriend over a dog. Freshman defensive lineman Jerome Johnson was cited for illegal possession and consumption of alcohol earlier this month after being found passed out in a dorm stairwell.
Enis did not see the field during Indiana's win over Ball State on Sept. 10, nor did he appear in the Hoosiers' season-opening win over Florida International on Sept. 1. IU head coach Kevin Wilson recently said Enis has been in concussion protocol.
