Indiana added to its 2023 recruiting class on Monday by landing the commitment of Zachary High (La.) pass rusher AJ Thomas.

"It's Big 10 ball, it feels like a real family where everyone wants to see you be the best you can be," said Thomas.

Thomas had a final three of Indiana, Tulane and Louisiana Tech.

Thomas is a three-star prospect who was a First-Team All-State selection as a junior, finishing with 53 tackles and five sacks.

Thomas was previously committed to Louisiana Tech, but following his official visit to Indiana in June, he re-opened his recruitment.

Coming into his visit to Indiana, he said he needed to be blown away in order to back off of his commitment to Louisiana Tech. Shortly after his visit to Bloomington, he pumped the breaks on his pledge.

"Indiana definitely is a game changer that has opened my eyes towards my recruiting process... One of the best if not the best visit i’ve been to," Thomas told TheHoosier.com after his visit. "I’ll do a lot of thinking over the next few weeks."

Thomas is a 6-foot-3 and 230-pound defensive end. He is a three-star prospect. He is being recruited at the Bull position in Indiana's defense

"Their pitch is that I’d fit in as their bull position," Thomas said. "I would do a variety of things from holding the edge, rushing the QB, to covering in the flats if needed. My skill set and mobility would bring all of that."

Thomas becomes Indiana's ninth commitment in the class of 2023.
