Per ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, The Houston Rockets are trading former Indiana guard Eric Gordon to the Los Angeles Clippers in a multi-team deal that included three second round picks as well. The Rockets will receive: John Wall, Danny Green, and a draft pick swap. The Memphis Grizzlies were also a part of this trade and they received Luke Kennard.

Gordon, who has been in the NBA since 2008, is going back to the team that drafted him and has a chance to compete on a playoff-bound team.

Gordon was taken with the 7th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers following his lone season at Indiana. He averaged 20.9 points per game for the Hoosiers.

During his first stint with the Clippers, he averaged 18.1 points in 196 games. In December of 2011, the Clippers traded Gordon to the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans. He was also a part of the NBA All-Rookie Second Team (2009).

Gordon played for New Orleans for 5 seasons while averaging 15.3 points per game. He would go onto sign with the Rockets before the 2016-17 season.

Gordon has spent the past seven seasons with the Rockets, averaging 15.7 points per game while shooting 42.1 percent during that time. While playing for the Rockets, He won the NBA 6th Man of the Year (2017).

As the Rockets went into a full rebuild, it was only a matter of time before Gordon would be traded to a contending team. He now has a chance to play with NBA greats such as Paul George and Kawhi Leonard.

Gordon will be an unrestricted free agent in 2024.
