The departure of Tom Crean from Indiana is already having ripple effects in recruiting.
Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern forward Zach Gunn had been waiting for a chance to commit to Indiana as he considered an offer from Ball State. But with Crean leaving the program, Gunn today pulled the trigger for Cardinals, according to Dakota Crawford of The Star Press.
Gunn had visited Indiana's campus a number of times, including this winter for a couple home games, before making his decision today.
"They [Ball State] want me," he told TheHoosier.com in December. "They're coming at me hard.
"Coach [James] Whitford has done a good job improving that program. I know they're struggling a little this year but obviously if I go there I'd have a good chance of playing right away and I understand that, so we'll see.
"Indiana checks up on me every now and then just to see how things are going. Coach Crean keeps encouraging me to get better. He's told me where to work on my game and I have. So with them, they just see how I'm doing and stuff like that."
The senior forward led Hamilton Southeastern to a 21-6 overall record this season after averaging 21.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
