When asked about grad forward Collin Hartman's progress in returning to full strength this offseason, IU head coach Archie Miller envisioned him playing alongside junior Juwan Morgan at times for the Hoosiers.

In Monday night's 77-64 win over Iowa, he saw the potential as both made several winning plays during a key second half run to secure the victory.

"I think the skill level that was out there with Juwan and Collin really spaces the floor," Miller said. "So we were able to get some really good unselfish plays, unselfish passing, and that team going in transition, and we were able to hold it off.

Clinging to a two-point lead just over five and a half minutes into the second half, Indiana needed a spark offensively. Iowa had made the game close after a 16-2 run to open the half, a stretch which saw Indiana miss its first seven shot attempts of the period.

Enter Hartman, who drilled a 3-pointer 19 seconds later to push Indiana's lead to five.

Then he added another 3-pointer, along with four defensive rebounds and two assists in an 18-0 run that spanned nearly seven minutes and gave Indiana the lead for good.

"We had that little lull there and we came in and changed our mindset after that timeout and got them back rolling," Hartman said.

Meanwhile, Morgan finished a layup and secured a defensive rebound late in the run, plays which helped the Hoosiers expand their lead to 21 with 7:15 left. The margin marked Indiana's second-largest lead of the night.

"We bought into what we had to do to pull the win out," Morgan said. "It was five guys out there playing for each other, I think that's what you saw tonight when those runs were happening."

Indiana also had a 14-0 run in the second half which provided enough to get to a 15-point lead at halftime. A steal by Hartman and layup by Morgan contributed to that spurt.

No matter which half you looked at, both had a part in Indiana's winning plays.

"That lineup with (Collin) and Juwan was a really big key in the first half," Miller said. "And I thought it was a really big key in the second half of regrouping us."
