Future Indiana forward De’Ron Davis has been named Mr. Basketball in Colorado.
The award was announced early Sunday morning by the Denver Post.
Davis drew most of his rave reviews in the high school ranks for his defense.
He set the Colorado high school record for career blocked shots with 441, a statistic that state has kept since 1983.
For his career, Davis had 1,527 points, 441 blocked shots and 1,028 rebounds, seventh most since Colorado high schools began keeping that statistic in 1972.
From the Denver Post, which awards Mr. Basketball in Colorado:
“Overland went 83-25 with him. It won the past two Class 5A titles, and he twice was named tournament MVP by The Denver Post. The Trailblazers also won or shared the past three Centennial League titles, ringing up a 36-6 record in the state's toughest conference.”
