Five-Star Junior Romeo Langford Hears From Archie Miller

New Indiana head coach Archie Miller has initiated talks with the top junior prospect in the state.

New Albany (Ind.) High five-star junior guard Romeo Langford heard from Miller on Wednesday, according to The Hoosier Report.

The 6-4, 185-pound guard - ranked as the No. 3 player nationally in 2018 - also got a visit from head coach Roy Williams fresh off his national title win.

Langford, who holds offers from IU, Duke, Kentucky and Louisville among others, averaged 29 points per game this season. His New Albany squad was knocked out in the regional championship in a 72-64 loss to Castle after winning the Class 4A state title as a sophomore.

He was recently named to the Indiana Junior All-Star team, and was tabbed first team All-State by the Associated Press.

He's still not anywhere close to making a college decision at this time.

“Basically everybody’s after me,” he told TheHoosier.com this winter. “Everyone’s been keeping in touch and coming to games.

"I couldn’t really pinpoint anyone who’s recruiting me the hardest.”

As one of the most long-time coveted recruits in the country, it won't be easy for Miller to break into the recruitment and snag a commitment. Still, as part of his "inside-out" recruiting approach, one would expect the Hoosiers to at-worst put in a strong effort.

"We're going to have a great way about us, and the term that we'll use is called inside-out," Miller said at his introductory press conference. "We have to start inside this state of Indiana, and we have to start moving outside very slowly, because the footprint is there.

"The inside-out approach means that we have to dedicate ourselves to the high school coaches in this state, the high school talent in this state, the grass-roots programs in this state, and they must feel like they're being dominated by Indiana University.

"You're not going to get every player; you understand that. But if we want them, we should have a great chance of getting them because of the commitment level that we're putting forth 24 hours a day at home."

Miller has also already reached out to a number of other in-state underclassmen, including McCutcheon three-star junior guard Rob Phinisee and Indianapolis Tindley four-star junior guard Eric Hunter.

Phinisee averaged 21.4 points, 6.9 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game this season to lead McCutcheon to a 24-3 overall record. Like Langford, he was also named an Indiana Junior All-Star and was tabbed first team All-State. He holds offers from Purdue, Virginia and Butler among others.

Hunter averaged 26.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game this year to lead Tindley to a 22-6 overall record. He was named third team All-State, and City Player of the Year in Indianapolis after leading Tindley to the Class A state title.
