Grace Berger knew back in June she wanted to be a Hoosier.

Five months later, she's made it official.

"I just couldn't want any longer," she said.

Berger, a four-star prospect out of Louisville, committed to Indiana on Monday. The 5-foot-11 guard in the class of 2018 is ranked No. 46 in the country by ESPN and No. 56 overall by Prospect Nation.

She chose to play for Teri Moren over offers from the likes of Kentucky, Louisville and Michigan, among others. She was already leaning toward Indiana when she visited for Hoosier Hysteria last month but said seeing the team play at the newly renovated Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall put an end to the discussion.

"The atmosphere was just crazy," Berger said. "I could tell everyone there was just crazy for basketball. That was really exciting for me. I got to talk to some of the players and just really liked them. I felt like I'd be a good fit with them."

Berger's length combined with her ball handling ability makes her a candidate for any of the three guard spots but is likely to wind up at either the 2 or 3 guard spots in Bloomington.

"I think the main thing (Indiana) liked about me was my versatility," she said.

Berger averaged 14.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game as a sophomore at Sacret Heart Academy last season. On the AAU circuit, she's teammates with 2017 signee Jaelynn Penn, a five-star guard, who Berger said didn't have any influence on her decision to come to IU.

Not that she'll mind it.

"I really picked the best school for me and didn't think too much about who else was going there," she said. "But I'm definitely really excited to be playing with her."

With her decision out of the way, Berger said she's excited for the chance to relax for a while as she heads into her junior season. She's not sure what she'll study yet when she gets to college but said she knows she's found the fit she needed on the floor.

Her early commitment only adds to Indiana's recruiting momentum not even a week after signing a top-25 2017 class. With Berger already pledged, the Hoosiers are well on their way to riding their recruiting wave into 2018 and beyond.

"It's been a long process," she said, "but I'm really glad I just found the perfect place for me."
