All Mitchell Paige wanted was a shot.
Now he's getting it.
The 5-foot-7, 176-pound Carmel, Indiana, native who went from walk-on to being one of the most productive receivers at Indiana over the last two seasons agreed to a rookie free agent deal with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Unofficially, Paige registered a 4.52-second 40-yard dash, a 31.5-inch vertical, a 116-inch broad jump and participated in individual drills at IU's Pro Day earlier this spring. He was not invited to the NFL Combine.
Paige hauled in 115 catches for 1,330 yards and 10 touchdowns over two active seasons with the IU offense. He was also a punt returner and brought a pair of punts back for scores as a redshirt junior.
"I'm not a track star," Paige said after Pro Day. "Whatever I'm doing, just let myself do it. Whatever they want me to do, need me to do to get me a chance, that's what I'm gonna do."
Now's his turn.
