IU freshman forward De'Ron Davis sustained a head injury in the Hoosiers' 69-64 loss to Purdue on Thursday. He is still under evaluation, according to IU head coach Tom Crean.

"We'll continue to evaluate him, and hopefully he'll be ok," Crean said.

Davis sustained the injury 12:22 remaining in the second half on layup attempt defended by Purdue junior center Isaac Haas. There appeared to be no ill intent from Haas on the play.

Davis left the contest and had to be helped off the floor by members of IU's athletic training staff back to the IU locker room and did not return.

His injury further impacts frontcourt depth already depleted with the absence of senior forward Collin Hartman and sophomore forward OG Anunoby.

Davis finished with two rebounds, one block and three turnovers in the 14 minutes he managed prior to the injury in Thursday's game. He's averaging six points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 13.5 minutes per game across 25 games this season.

"It was a little difficult, but that just means everybody else has to step up even more," sophomore center Thomas Bryant, when asked about the adjustment to playing without Davis. "Including me, James [Blackmon Jr.], everybody on the team just had to step up more."
