Indiana today formally announced a $170 million fundraising campaign and plans to enclose the south end zone of Memorial Stadium and build a new indoor arena for wrestling and volleyball.
IU’s fundraising goal includes $85 million for scholarships and $85 million for capital improvements.
IU announced its South End Zone project will be called the Memorial Stadium Excellence Academy.
Indiana’s South End Zone project has been discussed for some time prior to today’s formal unveiling.
IU’s goal is for the South End Zone be completed for the start of the 2018 football season.
The new wrestling and volleyball arena is to be completed by the 2019-20 school year.
The $170 million campaign, Glass said, includes four projects: Assembly Hall renovation, Mark Cuban Center, Memorial Stadium Excellence Academy and the building of an indoor arena.
Assembly Hall renovation and the Cuban Center are both underway.
Cindy Simon Skjodt has donated $40 million for the renovation of Assembly Hall, and Mark Cuban has donated $5 million for the Cuban center.
IU has raised $124 million of the $170 million goal, Glass said.
