There's a name down in southern Indiana that fans of Indiana University and high school basketball fans in general better start learning. 6'5 incoming freshman in the class of 2028 Noah Washington is going to make an immediate impact for the New Albany Bulldogs. He's already a national name in his class with some putting him as high as a top 10 kid in the nation. The obvious and easy comparison to make because of Noah being at New Albany is Romeo Langford but Noah wants to make his own name and carve out his own legacy for the Bulldogs. His frame and game resemble more of CJ Gunn at the moment than Romeo. A name that IU fans are also very familiar with.
This June playing for the Bulldogs Noah routinely led the team in scoring and rebounds establishing himself as a varsity starter on Day 1. What really separates Noah right now from alot of his peers, other than his height and athletic ability, is his confidence at getting to the rim and finishing. Whenever he sees a 1 v. 1 he's got the mindset of going to the basket and that nobody can stop him. Washington also has a quick trigger from the 3 point arc and is one of the better shooters in southern Indiana already. He's long already at 6'5 and super bouncy. There's really not much NOT to like about Noah's game at the moment. He's young but he's had experience playing with and against the nation's best for a few years now. His middle school teams didn't lose a game while he was there so there is good talent to go around the Bulldogs program right now. In fact, there's another kid in the class of 2029 we may be hearing about as a D1 recruit in the future also at New Albany, Karson Stoudemire. Those two will form one of the best 1-2 punches in the entire state.
When talking with Noah he said, "I think IU is a great school. It's always been one of my dream schools. I always loved the thought of gaining the attention of Indiana while in high school and being able to go into college with a fan base that is strong like IU. I love the energy at games and now much everybody loves basketball in the state. It's a big reason I went to New Albany. I didn't want to leave Indiana basketball because I know what the fans in Indiana can do for a basketball player especially when they are willing to work for it. What I'm saying is I love the thought of being able to play for my hometown school and making people proud while they follow me as I go into college if I ever was lucky enough to be able to make it to a level of basketball like Indiana University."
Noah has been involved with and around the game ever since he can remember. His brother Caleb was a standout for Floyd Central H.S. graduating in 2023 and currently plays for DePauw. He's always been taller than everyone his age but learned guard skills from a young age. He developed good ball handling and long range shots so he would not be limited to just the post. Now at 6'5 and still growing, the sky is the limit for his game. Noah is playing up on the Indy Heat 15U team that is playing in Georgia for the next week. Like most kids Noah is very aware of IU basketball and would be honored if the Hoosiers ever decided to offer. For now he's just going to take it one game at a time and try and get better each and every time out there. 4 years away in basketball terms is a lifetime away. If he does start to eventually get D1 offers from big time programs he'll weigh his options and make that decision when the time comes. I imagine we'll be talking and discussing alot more about Noah Washington in the near future.
