Indiana's quarterback room just got more competitive.
The Hoosiers on Monday afternoon announced the addition of former Utah quarterback and four-star prospect Jack Tuttle to the program. Tuttle, who did not play for the Utes this season, will transfer at the end of this semester and enroll at IU in January.
"Jack Tuttle is a tremendous addition to our program and we are happy to welcome him to IU," Indiana head coach Tom Allen said in a statement. "He is extremely talented and brings a huge skillset to our quarterback room. We look forward to his arrival on campus next semester and his development as a Hoosier."
Tuttle earned a spot in the 2017 Elite 11 Finals as a senior at San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills. The Elite 11 is considered the nation's premiere quarterback competition.
He also collected San Diego Section Player of the Year honors and first team All-CIF as a senior as well as the Silver Pigskin Award, presented to San Diego County's most outstanding high school football player. Mission Hills went 12-1 with Tuttle under center, its lone loss coming in the San Diego Section Open Division title game.
Overall, completed 205-of-295 (69.5 percent) for 3,171 yards with 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions, and rushed for 207 yards and a pair of TDs in his final campaign.
Tuttle, who was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Union Tribune All-Academic team, was born in Indianapolis. His father, Jay, was a walk-on kicker with the Hoosiers from 1986-89 and his mother, Kathy, is an Indiana State University graduate.
Tuttle held offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Boston College, Colorado, Colorado State, Indiana, LSU, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego State, USC, Vanderbilt, Washington State and Wisconsin. Oregon, Stanford and UCLA also showed interest during his recruitment.
