It was announced in May of this year that New Albany (Ind.) High School would be re-naming its basketball court in honor of former Indiana standout freshman and New Albany star Romeo Langford.
The vote to approve this was 7-0.
Now, a date has been set for the unveiling and the ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Aug. 20 at Noon. The night before, Langford will be honored at halftime of the New Albany football season-opener against Bloomington South.
Langford played at New Albany from 2014-2018 and during his four seasons, scored 3,002 points. That was fourth in Indiana high school scoring history. He led the Bulldogs to a 100-10 record over that span and a Class 4A State Championship in 2016.
In his junior year, Langford averaged 28.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game and then 35.5 points in his senior season. He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Indiana and a McDonalds All-American in 2018.
Langford went on to play one season at Indiana, averaging 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. It was then head coach Archie Miller's second season when the Hoosiers went 19-16.
During his lone season, 2018-19, Indiana reached No. 21 in the AP Poll, the highest and only time Indiana was ranked during the Archie Miller tenure.
Langford currently plays for the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA and is in his fourth season. He has played in 98 games (11 starts) and averaged 3.6 points per game.
The 6-foot-5 wing played his first three seasons for the Boston Celtics before getting traded at the trade deadline this season.
Due to injuries, Langford played in only four games for the Spurs and averaged 2.8 points and one rebound a game.
Langford was selected No. 14 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.
