With a week away from the NBA Draft and current offseason contract talks ongoing, NBA teams are in the middle of the offseason trade period. And for one former Indiana guard, he is right in the middle of the trade talks.
Former Indiana wing Eric Gordon is on the trade block, according to NBA reporter Jake Fischer. The Houston Rockets are asking a first-round pick for the 33-year old veteran.
Gordon has spent the past six seasons with the Rockets, averaging 16.1 points per game while shooting 36.1 percent from three over that span. He has appeared in 332 games with 172 starts while in Houston.
Last year, Gordon tied his career-low in points per game at 13.4, but he did shoot his best percentage from three since the 2014-15 season at 41.2 percent.
Gordon, who is going to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024, can still provide value to a team. Just two years ago he scored 50 points, the most points ever by an Indiana player in the NBA.
The 14-year veteran will make $19.6 million next season but then has a non-guaranteed salary of $20.9 million the following year.
Gordon was taken with the 7th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers following his lone season at Indiana. He averaged 20.9 points per game in Bloomington.
In 790 games in his NBA career, he has averaged 16.4 points per game and shot 37.1 percent from three with 2.3 made 3s per game.
