Getting ready for the new message boards

Barring any last minute hiccups, the Peegs.com message boards should be changing
to a new, simple-to-use format.

The Rivals.com national boards have already made the transition, and if you have
not seen the new look, you can do so by
clicking here to view the various
Rivals message boards.
The format will not be drastically changed other than the view will always be
topic view. Thread view is no longer an option. That will take some getting used
to for many but the new format should make for fewer contentious discussions and
is much more mobile friendly---meaning it will allow for better reading on
phones, tablets, iPads, etc.
Before the new-look Peegs.com
boards arrive, here's a brief tutorial to help users navigate them:
Posting on the message board
 If you want to
quote a user in your reply, hit the "reply" button to that specific post and the
quote will automatically appear in your reply in coded form.
If you want to reply to a specific part of the post, highlight the text and an option to reply
will pop up, allowing you to quote that specific portion.
Embedding video, photo or tweets
Just a host of new features in relation to both regular and social media:
To embed a tweet, it is simply a copy and paste of the tweet's URL.
Once you paste the URL in the body area of the post, simply hit "Post Reply" or
"Create Thread." The tweet will then be embedded.
Video works similarly from a variety of platforms, notably YouTube and Vimeo. A simple paste of the URL in
the message board post's body will embed the video. Otherwise, there is a video
icon available when creating a post where you can insert the URL to embed.
To embed a photo, click on the image icon and insert the URL to insert the picture.
Personalizing your posts
Hovering the mouse over your username in the top right
hand corner of the page will make a drop-down menu appear. That menu will allow
you to add a signature or change your avatar. You can also provide, twitter and facebook-style, status updates.
You will also see other personalizing options,
including ignoring or following specific posters. You also have the option to
receive specific alerts for various things, including replies or files attached
to a designated "watched thread," when someone quotes, tags or likes your
message or when someone is following you.
Alerts can also be checked by clicking the flag icon next to your username.
Making your board experience better
One of the new features with the message board is allowing direct conversations with
other users. There are several ways to make a direct message. You can click on
the user's name and a pop-up menu will appear with a link to start a
conversation.
See a distasteful or inappropriate thread? There is an option to
"report" a topic or specific message in each thread and post. If you want to
report an entire thread, click on "report" on the original post. Otherwise click
"report" under a specific message to report a particular post.
Want to ignore a user? Simply click on the username or avatar of the poster and the same menu
that appears when you want to start a conversation will give you an option to
ignore. You can manage your ignored members, as well.
