Former IU All-American guard Yogi Ferrell has been waived by the Brooklyn Nets, the NBA franchise announced Friday.

In three preseason games with Brooklyn, Ferrell averaged 4.3 points, 1.7 assists and 1.7 turnovers in 9.6 minutes per game off the bench.

Ferrell wasn't selected in this summer's NBA Draft but landed with the Nets' summer league squad. His performance during that stretch in mid-July landed him a training camp deal with the team in early August.

Brooklyn's roster now stands at 15 players, meeting the maximum roster size requirement five days ahead of the NBA's opening night.

Ferrell was one of three former Hoosiers from the 2015-16 Big Ten Championship team and one of seven former Hoosiers overall competing in NBA preseason contests.

Like former teammate and IU guard Nick Zeisloft, his run with his respective NBA franchise isn't over just yet. Ferrell is expected to join the Long Island Nets of the NBA Developmental League, according to CBS Sports.
