Indiana men's soccer released its 2017 schedule Wednesday. Unsurprisingly, it'll feature plenty of competition and rank among the toughest campaigns nationally.
The eight-time national champion Hoosiers' slate includes 10 home matches, seven opponents who finished in the top-50 in RPI a year ago and six returning NCAA Tournament teams.
"Our 2017 schedule will bring excitement and top programs to Armstrong Stadium," IU head coach Todd Yeagley said in a statement. "This year's schedule will include our regional and Big 10 rivals, in addition to top teams from the west coast. With a strong returning team and a talented incoming class, we feel our 2017 team is prepared to have a special year. We look forward seeing all of great fans and the Hoosier Army out at Armstrong Stadium this fall."
IU opens the 2017 season at the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament, hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. The Hoosiers will play both Cal Poly (Aug. 25) and San Diego (Aug. 27) that weekend.
Indiana's home schedule begins with the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic which will feature Butler, San Francisco and South Florida. The Hoosiers will play San Francisco (Sept. 1) and South Florida (Sept. 3) that weekend.
The Big Ten schedule is set to kickoff Sept. 8 against Maryland on the road. The Hoosiers return home Sept. 13 to play Michigan.
Season tickets are already on sale at $30 for adults and $10 for ages 3-18. Children two and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the IU Athletics Ticket office, by phone at 1-866-IUSPORTS or online at IUHoosiers.com. Each adult season ticket also comes with a $10 concession voucher.
The Hoosiers finished the spring season 6-0 with wins against Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Valparaiso, Evansville, Xavier and United Soccer League side Swope Park Rangers. Of those, the wins against Swope Park (1-0), Notre Dame (0-0, penalty kicks) and Cincinnati (3-1) featured full 11-on-11 sides.
The final game of the spring against the Mexican U-18 National Team was cancelled and not rescheduled due to lightning and pouring rain.
