Indiana junior guard Trey Galloway missed Sunday's game against Miami (OH) due to a knee injury, something announced shortly before the tip.
Indiana head coach Mike Woodson provided an update following the 86-56 win over the Redhawks.
"As far as Gallo, he is just banged up," Woodsons aid. "He twisted his knee the other night at Xavier, and we're just being cautious to make sure he is okay."
Galloway played in the first three games of the season and has averaged 4.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
Galloway injured his knee in Friday's win over Xavier, 81-79. He played 23 minutes and had four assists, two rebounds and one block.
"We didn't play Gallo tonight. He got banged up in the game before or he would have been in the rotation," Woodson said.
Throughout his career, Galloway has been a vital member of the rotation for Indiana but he's also struggled with injuries.
Last season, Galloway missed 15 games and dealt with a broken wrist for the majority of the season. He also missed most of the summer with a groin injury. The year before, he missed time due to a back injury.
“He’s a great player," Trayce Jackson-Davis said last year about Galloway. "And he adds that much-needed spark coming off the bench.”
Indiana's bench has been the more impressive part of the roster this season, outscoring opposing benches 143-47 through four games. Indiana's bench outscored Miami's bench 34-15 on Sunday.
"My thing is, guys, listen, we've got enough bodies on this team," Woodson said. "My theme is always going to be next man up if someone gets hurt and when you are called upon, be ready to play."
Indiana returns to action on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm against Arkansas-Little Rock and then again on Friday at 12:30 pm against Jackson State. Both games are at Assembly Hall.
