BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - On Tuesday, graduate student Mackenzie Holmes was named an AP preseason All-American by the Associated Press.
Holmes is the first Hoosier to receive preseason All-American honors.
Earlier this month, Holmes was also named to the Lisa Leslie Award preseason watch list. The award is given annually to the nation's top center.
The 6-foot-3 forward was an All-American honorable in 2022 following her junior season and a first-team All-American a season ago. Holmes also won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year last season.
The Gorham, Maine native averaged 22.3 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game last season as a senior, both of which led the team. Holmes also finished last season second in field goal percentage, shooting 68% from the floor. Holmes is top five in Indiana women's basketball history in both scoring and blocks.
Entering her fifth season, Holmes and the Hoosiers have high expectations following a historic 2022-2023 campaign.
