Indiana's season that began as national title contenders will end with a first round exit from the NIT.
The Hoosiers went on the road to Georgia Tech on Tuesday evening and trailed for most of the night in the NIT's opening round, eventually falling 75-63.
Below is an instant recap of the game in chronological order.
8:45 p.m. ET: The Hoosiers rolling with regular starters in Josh Newkirk, Robert Johnson, James Blackmon, Juwan Morgan and Thomas Bryant.
15:57 1H | Georgia Tech 12, Indiana 4. Not an ideal start for the Hoosiers. GT on a 10-0 run and are only 5-for-9 from the field, but two of those makes are from three-point range.
On the other end, Hoosiers are just 2-for-7.
9:32 1H | Georgia Tech 19, Indiana 15. Well then. Just when it looked like it might get out of hand - even at this early stage of the game - Hoosiers now on a 9-0 run with some balanced scoring.
7:27 1H | Georgia Tech 23, Indiana 17. The Yellow Jackets weather the run and are still up six.
IU has gotten some nice energy tonight from its freshmen.
3:09 1H | Georgia Tech 28, Indiana 24. IU still hasn't taken back a lead, but has really fought back after getting blown out in the early minutes, and it would have been easy to lay down.
Curtis Jones has five points and a couple nice non-scoring plays in six minutes of play.
Halftime | Georgia Tech 34, Indiana 27. IU is clearly much more talented than GT, but the Yellow Jackets clearly want it more.
Morgan leads all IU scorers with eight points at the half.
16:33 2H | Indiana 39, Georgia Tech 38. Oh boy. Hoosiers retake the lead on an 8-0 run, and are outscoring GT 12-4 this half. Newkirk and Blackmon threes, plus a dunk from Bryant has IU back on top.
11:21 2H | Georgia Tech 47, Indiana 46. Have to say, some back-and-forth action in this one has it heading to maybe be a pretty good game.
Hoosiers are 7-for-13 from the field this half, but have committed three turnovers.
7:35 2H | Georgia Tech 61, Indiana 53. Well, the Hoosiers' season is less than eight minutes away from being over.
GT creates a little separation after making five of its last six field goal tries.
2:53 2H | Georgia Tech 68, Indiana 56. GT is 13-0 when scoring 70 or more points this year - so, trends would suggest this one is just about over.
FINAL | Georgia Tech 75, Indiana 63.
