Former Indiana star Antwaan Randle El highlights a list of nominees for the College Football Hall of Fame class of 2018, the National Football Foundation announced Thursday.
Randle El played at IU from 1998-2001 after sitting out a season primarily as a quarterback on the field. He also wound up playing baseball during the 2000 season and basketball during the 1998-99 season for head coach Bob Knight.
A consensus First-Team All-American in 2001, Randle El was the first player in NCAA Division I history to pass for 40 rushing touchdowns and score another 40 times on the ground. He finished his career with 7,469 passing yards, 3,894 rushing yards and 92 total touchdowns.
In November 2012, Randle El was elected into the IU Athletics Hall of Fame.
"If I had my way, all my kids would be here (at IU)," Randle El told TheHoosier.com last fall. "I still want to let them choose and make their decision though."
The 2018 ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame includes 75 total players and six coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision and 98 players and 31 coaches from the divisional ranks.
A group of more than 12,000 will vote for the Hall of Fame.
The class of 2918 will be revealed Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, in Atlanta
