Indiana added a big commitment to its 2018 class on Friday - literally.
Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga three-star offensive lineman Aidan Rafferty tweeted his decision to play for the Hoosiers this afternoon.
The 6-6, 285-pound offensive lineman is ranked as the No. 34 offensive tackle nationally and No. 3 player in D.C.
"Thank you to my family, all of the Gonzaga coaches, and my teammates who have helped me get where I am today," he tweeted. "And thank you to all the coaches who have recruited me.
"I am excited to announce that I am committed to Indiana University!"
Rafferty held offers from Arizona, Louisville, Maryland and Pittsburgh among others.
"I committed to IU because of the coaching staff and the values of their program," Rafferty told TheHoosier.com. "I also loved the campus and the business school."
Assistant Mike Hart was a lead recruiter for the three-star lineman. Offensive line coach Darren Hiller and head coach Tom Allen also played a role in his decision.
"Coach Hart, me and him have had a great relationship for a while," Rafferty said. "I love that all the coaches I have met at Indiana are honest, and truly want what's best for their players - on and off the field."
He's the 10th verbal commitment for IU in the 2018 cycle, and the second along the offensive line, joining Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice three-star offensive tackle Nick Marozas.
