Indiana has added a talented in-state commitment at a key position.
Lafayette (Ind.) McCutcheon three-star guard Rob Phinisee committed to the Hoosiers today, over a list of offers that included Purdue, Ohio State and Virginia among others.
IU head coach Archie Miller and the Hoosier's staff made Phinisee a big priority this July evaluation period, attending a number of his games across the country.
"I know he had success at Dayton," Phinisee said previously of Miller. "He feels like a good person.
"Energetic guy - likes to really be involved with the team. Off the court, he can be like your friend, you can talk to him about anything - but on the court, he's all about business."
He's the third commitment to IU in the class of 2018, joining South Bend Riley four-star forward Damezi Anderson and Pickerington (Ohio) North four-star forward Jerome Hunter. Plymouth (Minn.) three-star forward Race Thompson also committed to IU, but he's reclassified to the 2017 class and has already joined the team on-campus.
Phinisee averaged 21.4 points, 6.9 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game as a junior to lead McCutcheon to a 24-3 overall record. He was named an Indiana Junior All-Star, first team All-State by the Associated Press, and named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Underclass All-State Supreme team.
Stay tuned for more on Phinisee's commitment to IU.
