Indiana appears to have landed a new top candidate to replace Tyra Buss at point guard after next season.

Ali Patberg, a 5-foot-10 point guard out of Columbus, Indiana, will transfer to Indiana, a source confirmed to TheHoosier.com. She will have two seasons of eligibility after sitting out a season, per NCAA rules.

The 2015 Indiana Miss Basketball winner appeared in 22 games for Notre Dame last season but only averaged 7.7 minutes per contest as she fought off injury. She did not play her true freshman season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee during practice Nov. 2, 2015.

Patberg, who has experience playing in the Team USA system, wound up missing the early part of the 2016 preseason after having surgery due to bone spurs. She also missed a good portion of December's schedule with what the team called "walking pneumonia" before another illness hit her in early January.

Patberg will be the second Miss Indiana Basketball award winner to play for the Hoosiers, joining 1987 winner Lori Meinerding. Patberg was ranked as a five-star prospect by ESPN out of high school and No. 13 overall in her class as she won Indiana's Gatorade Player of the Year Award as a high school senior.

Erin Boley, a rising sophomore forward who played with Patberg at Notre Dame last season, is also a Hoosier target.
