Indiana Basketball: Victor Oladipo not expected to return to Heat

With only one day before free agency officially begins and current offseason contract talks ongoing, NBA teams are right in the middle of reshaping their rosters before the 2022-23 season. For one former Indiana guard, he is right in the middle of all of the offseason free agency talks.

Former Indiana guard Victor Oladipo is reportingly not returning to the Miami Heat and is expecting to hit free agency, according to NBA reporter Jake Fischer. Oladipo is going into his 9th season in the NBA.

Oladipo has spent the past two seasons with the Heat, averaging 11.7 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field. He has only appeared in 27 total games, including playoffs, for Miami due to injury.

Before joining the Heat in the 2022-21 season, Oladipo spent time with the Magic, Thunder, Pacers, and Rockets. His accolades include being a two-time NBA All-Star, All-NBA Third Team, NBA All-Defensive First Team, NBA Most Improved Player, and NBA Steals Leader.

Oladipo was taken with the 2nd overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic following three years at Indiana. He averaged 10.7 points per game during his career in Bloomington while also being a consensus first team All-American, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and First-Team All-Big Ten.

In 462 games in his NBA career, he has averaged 17.4 points shooting 43.8 percent from the field along with 4.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
