He may only be a sophomore, but Roncalli High School (IN) offensive lineman Trevor Lauck knows a thing or two about championship football.

His grandfather, Charles "Chick" Lauck was a national champion in 1966 at Notre Dame, and he helped Roncalli capture an Indiana High School League Class 4A state title last November.

The 6-foot-6, 275-pounder also knows a thing or two about the Indiana Hoosiers, who recently offered Lauck and hosted him on an unofficial visit this week.

Lauck told TheHoosier.com Indiana's facilities stood out to him on his visit, as did meeting several offensive coaches and head coach Tom Allen.

"The facilities and campus were awesome, but the Coaches were even better. I talked to Coach (Kevin) Wright, Coach (Darren) Hiller, Coach (Tom) Allen, and Coach (Nick) Sheridan. All of them were very personable and great people. All the meetings with them went very smooth and I enjoyed them greatly," Lauck said.

Lauck added he was impressed by the locker room, weight room and coaching staff.

:The facilities like the locker room and weight room were awesome. The Coaching staff as a whole was also very impressive," he said.

He said the coaching staff gave him an idea of what life would like if he came to Indiana.

"We talked about the training programs I’d go through and how I’d grow as not only a player but as a person during my time there," Lauck said.

When he was offered, Lauck offered his thoughts on the culture Allen has built, as well as his thoughts on Allen.

"My mom is an IU grad and has been taking me to games since I could remember. The culture they’ve established is awesome. They have a family atmosphere, which I really love. Coach Allen has obviously done an amazing job turning the program around. He has really got the players to buy in. The family culture he has built is amazing and that’s a huge reason in why it’s all changed so fast.," Lauck said.

In addition to the Hoosiers, Lauck holds offers from: Purdue, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Miami (OH), Michigan State, Rutgers and Toledo.

Lauck admits that his opinion of Indiana changed after his visit.

"I knew Indiana was a school I’d consider but now it’s a school that I'm extremely interested in. Indiana University is most definitely towards the top of my list," the Class of '23 standout said, adding he has no more visits planned at this time.

As for what he is looking for in a school and what will be factors in his decision, Lauck said, "I’m looking for a family culture that all the players have bought into. I’m looking for a coaching staff that is loyal to its school and to building players. I’m looking for a school that can fit my wants and needs academically. I do not have a timer table for the decision yet."
