Hoosiers Enter Picture For Chicagos Dockery

According to Chicago Julian High School Coach Loren Jackson, there isn’t much room for debate when it comes to who the nation’s premiere junior point guard is.
"(Sean Dockery’s) the best," Jackson said. "If there’s anyone better – I’m not trading mine. I’ve had him for four years and I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world. He’s a great kid to work with. I’ve been very blessed to have him."

While he has another year at Julian, the college coaches are already lining up to try to land the 6-3 point guard. Jackson said Indiana is one of the schools that has been coming up recently, and it is one of the schools Dockery is considering looking into.
In addition to Indiana, Jackson said Duke, Illinois, Missouri, Florida, DePaul and Miami (Fla.) are high on Dockery’s list.
Dockery is one of a handful of top-50 guards who the Hoosiers covet. In addition to Dockery, John Gilchrist, Anthony Roberson, Chadd Moore, Justin Gray, Marshall Strickland and guard/forward Bracey Wright are high on IU’s wish list. With four scholarships for next year’s class, IU would like to try to get at least two off that list.
Dockery is ranked as the seventh-best junior in the nation by PrepStars. He is coming off a junior season when he averaged 23 points, 10 assists, four rebounds and four steals per game while helping Julian to a 21-10 record.
"I thought he had a great year," Jackson said. "I thought he really became a good leader for us. There’s been some definite development from his freshman year to his sophomore year to now his junior year. And I’m expecting even greater things in his senior year."
If Dockery’s junior season finale is any indication, he should be in for even bigger things as a senior. In a city tournament, triple overtime 106-103 loss to Crane, Dockery scored 53 points, and added ten rebounds, nine assists and five steals.
"That was as good a single performance as I’ve seen," Jackson said. "It’s funny because it wasn’t the highest scoring game from one individual in our program’s history. (DePaul standout) Lance Williams had 62 in Las Vegas a couple of years back. But overall, that was as good of a performance as I’ve seen."
