Breakdown

Brian Gregory has a rebuilding challenge on his hands in Tampa.

He takes over for Orlando Antigua, who left the program after three years following a 1-17 conference finish last season.

Gone along with Antigua are three starters who had eligibility to return. Guard Geno Thorpe transferred to Syracuse as a graduate student, guard Mike Bibby transferred to Appalachian State and center Ruben Guerrero transferred to Samford.

That creates an interesting roster setup for Gregory. South Florida clearly struggled last year, but they were also one of the youngest teams in the country – they checked in at No. 329 nationally in experience, according to Kenpom.com.

Instead of inheriting a young but developing squad, nine new players in total were added to the roster in the offseason.

That includes two graduate transfers from the same Big Ten school. Both wing Payton Banks (10.4 ppg) and guard Terrance Samuel (3.9 ppg) join the Bulls roster after averaging a combined 43 minutes per game for Penn State last season.
