Hill top remaining target for Hoosiers

Indiana currently has 17 commits in the 2016 recruiting class that are set to sign with the Hoosiers tomorrow, but there are still a few key targets that the staff is hoping to get good news from on Signing Day. Peegs.com takes a look at the recruits that will make a final decision on Signing Day that the Hoosiers are still in the mix for. At the top of the list is Georgia defensive end Jacoby Hill.

JACOBY HILL - DEFENSIVE END
PLAYER STARS

Jacoby Hill

Defensive End

6-4, 227

Atlanta, GA

Carver H.S.

Highlights

Hill is a defensive end prospect that had a very good senior season at Carver H.S. in Atlanta. He finished the year with 61 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, nine sacks and two forced fumbles. Hill has more than 20 offers but he has narrowed it down to IU and Memphis.

NOTES: Hill is not the highest rated player that Indiana still has a shot with, but he might be the most important. He is a very talented prospect at a position of need for IU and he has the ability to come in and make an immediate impact for the Hoosiers defense. One of the biggest issues IU has had on defense is getting pressure in the opponents backfield and Hill excels at doing just that. This past fall at Carver H.S. he recorded 31 tackles for loss and nine sacks. It is safe to say that Hill is the top target left on the Indiana recruiting board with Signing Day just hours away, and adding him tomorrow would be huge for the Indiana staff. The talented prospect is down to Indiana and Memphis.

KIANTE ENIS - ATHLETE
PLAYER STARS

Kiante Enis

Athlete

6-2, 200

Winchester, IN

Winchester Community HS

Highlights

Enis had a big year in 2015 at running back for Winchester as he rushed for 2,393 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also had 290 yards receiving and four scores. He recorded 22 tackles on defense, and he was also a standout returner on special teams.

NOTES: Kiante Enis is a prospect that the Indiana staff has been recruiting since his sophomore year and that persistence could pay off on Signing Day when he announces his decision. The three-star recruit was a Michigan commit for several months, but he decommitted recently and Indiana is in the driver's seat to land his committment. At Winchester Community H.S. the talented prospect was a standout running back that put up very impressive stats, but in college he could play a number of different positions. If he stays on offense he could be a running back or wide receiver, and on defense the most likely positions are safety or outside linebacker. Enis is also considering Miami (OH), Ball State, Michigan State and Purdue, but he seems to be down to IU and Miami (OH).

KEVIN McCRARY - DEFENSIVE LINE

Kevin McCrary

Defensive Line

6-1, 280

Daytona Beach, FL

Mainland H.S.

Highlights

McCrary had a very good 2015 season for one of the top programs in the state of Florida. This past fall at Mainland H.S. in Daytona Beach the talented prospect recorded 78 tackles, 35 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.

Florida DL Kevin McCrary

NOTES: McCrary is a shorter defensive lineman that had a very good senior season at a very good prep program in Florida. With no interior defensive linemen currently committed to Indiana landing McCrary on Signing Day would be big for the Hoosiers. The Daytona Beach native is currently committed to Florida Atlantic, but he made an official visit to Bloomington this past weekend and the Hoosiers are in the mix to land him on Signing Day. After his senior season McCrary was named Player of the Year by the Orlando Sentinel, Defensive Player of the Year by the Daytona Beach News-Journal, and he was also named First Team All-State for Class 6A.

MARCELINO BALL - SAFETY/LINEBACKER
PLAYER STARS

Marcelino Ball

Safety/OLB

6-0, 200

Roswell, GA

Roswell H.S.

Highlights

Ball is listed as a cornerback by Rivals.com but in college he projects more as a safety or possibly an outside linebacker depending on how big he gets. After the 2015 season he was named to the Georgia Sportswriter’s Association All-State 6A Second Team, and to Region 5-6A First Team.

Georgia S/LB Marcelino Ball

NOTES: Ball was a standout player for a Roswell H.S. team that went 14-1 and fell one game short of an undefeated season and a state championship. Following the season he was named to the All-Region team in Class 5-6A. Ball is listed as a cornerback by Rivals.com but he played more of a safety spot for his high school team, and either safety or outside linebacker is probably where he fits best in college. In the 4-2-5 scheme of new IU D-coordinator Tom Allen he might be an ideal fit as the 5th DB which is basically a hybrid Safety/LB.
