Fresh off testing his skills against some of the nation's elite players at the LeBron James Skills Academy, Gary Harris will battle some of his fellow Indiana standouts today.
The Hamilton Southeastern 2012 guard is one of the stars in the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Top 100 Showcase being held today at Ben Davis High School.
"I'm looking forward to it," Harris, Rivals.com's 28th-ranked player in the 2012 class, said. "It's always fun going against guys you know. It's always fun to compete. It's just that much better when it's against guys you know. We'll go hard."
Harris will have plenty of attention throughout the July evaluation period when college coaches can watch players in person. The 6-6 wing is being pursued heavily by Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State and Louisville with Michigan also involved. Harris plans to take his official visits after school starts, then make his college choice.
The IBCA top 100 includes a number of top players while others are taking a day off after the first round of July tournaments.
Indiana recruit Collin Hartman (Cathedral), Purdue recruits Bryson Scott (Fort Wayne Northrup) and Basil Smotherman (Lawrence North) and Notre Dame recruit Austin Burgett (Avon) are all scheduled to play along with Harris' Hamilton Southeastern teammates Zak Irvin, who is being recruited by Indiana, Purdue, Butler and a number of other programs, and Jacobby Bledsoe.
New Haven's V.J. Beachem, Park Tudor's Trevon Bluiett, Hamilton Heights' Alex Etherington, Lake Central's Glen Robinson III, Cathedral's Jared Drew and Southport's Kellon Thomas are among other standouts on the list for the Top 100.
Indiana recruits Kevin Ferrell, Jeremy Hollowell, Hanner Perea and Devin Davis; Purdue recruits Rapheal Davis and Ronnie Johnson, Butler recruit Kellen Dunham and uncommitted nationally ranked small forward DeJuan Marrero of Gary Bowman are among the state stars not listed for today's event.
The top 100 begins with drills at 2:30 p.m. Games begin at 3:35 p.m.
