THE LATEST

It was a fruitful spring evaluation period for 2021 Georgia athlete Chief Borders, as he racked up miles on the road and saw his offer list explode as a result of his travels. Borders now has an impressive list of options that includes Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee and several others. While he's taking his time to build relationships with all his new options, Borders admitted that picking up an offer from in-state program Georgia was special. Rivals.com recently caught up with Borders to talk about the Dawgs and how they might factor into his recruitment going forward.

IN HIS WORDS

"I've been talking to a lot of schools but Alabama, Missouri, Clemson, Florida, Indiana and Georgia are all some of the schools showing love."

Georgia visit/offer: "Georgia was a good visit. I went there for 7-on-7 and had a great time. It was a blessing. I'm humbled to say I have an offer from the University of Georgia. I moved here from Chicago my eighth grade year and now it's my home so that's one I have dreamed about earning. I was with my team and we were working out and Coach Lanning pulled me out while we were taking a break and said he was impressed."

Thoughts on campus: "After we were done with 7-on-7 I stayed and got a tour with my family and Coach Lanning let me know in front of my whole family that I had an offer. It was great. I got to watch the team workout a little and campus was beautiful."

Potential fit: "They see me as an edge rusher in their defense. A guy that can come in and get after the quarterback. But they like my versatility as well and think I can also cover. guys when they need me to."

Connection to the school: "I don't consider myself a fan of any school but since I've moved here I've really admired what they have been able to do and I probably watch them play more than any other school."
