Beery commits to the Hoosiers

Three-star prospect Britt Beery from Carmel (IN) Carmel H.S. posted on his Twitter page that he has committed to Indiana today. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound defensive end is the 5th commit for Kevin Wilson and his staff in the 2017 recruiting class, and the second one from Indiana.

Beery made the announcement with this post on his Twitter page:

Beery chose IU over offers from Indiana, Syracuse, Ball State, Miami (OH) and New Mexico. He was also hearing a great deal from Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Stanford and Vanderbilt.

The three-star prospect told Peegs.com tonight that he is very excited about the future of the Indiana program.

"I'm happy to say I committed to IU football today," Beery said. "I'm very excited about the future and direction of the program. The energy is electrifying."

The IU staff has told Beery that they like the versatility he offers as a player, and they could see him playing a few different spots in college.

“I know the coaches really like my athleticism and they like that I play two sports in basketball and football,” Beery said about the message from the IU staff. “And they like how versatile I am as a player. I don’t know what position they plan on playing me at, but they told me that I could be a defensive tackle, a defensive end, or maybe even an offensive lineman. I’m open to all of that and they really like that I am not just locked into one position.”

Peegs.com will have more on this developing story.
