Hoosiers land Florida DB
Waynedriko Smith from Orlando (FL) Orangewood Christian H.S. just informed Peegs.com that he has committed to the Indiana football program. The 6-foot, 170-pound cornerback is the 20th commit for Kevin Wilson and his staff in the 2014 recruiting class, and the third one from the state of Florida.
Smith, who originally committed to Rutgers, chose IU over offers from the Scarlet Knights, Cincinnati, North Carolina State, Western Michigan and Appalachian State. The Orlando native told Peegs.com it was the feeling he got this weekend on his official visit that made Indiana the place for him.
"Indiana is great place to be," he said about his decision to commit to IU. "The team is like family and I felt as if I was still at home. I can't wait to get back up here to play with my family."
The talented prospect is ranked #29 on the Orlando Sentinel's 2014 Central Florida Super60, and he was named to the Class 3A All-State Second Team on defense. Smith played his junior season at Edgewater H.S. in Orlando and that year he recorded 32 tackles, three tackles for loss and two interceptions.
Peegs.com will have more on this developing story.
