A 6-5, 312-pounder, Green was a four-year starter and earned all-area recognition three times at Sam Houston High School. He posted 57 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries as a senior. Green talked to Jeremy Gray from IUHoosiers.com about his first year in Bloomington.

Talk about your redshirt season.
"The redshirt year was very helpful. Being in the weight room with Coach (Mark) Hill and the strength coaches was very important. I grew so much in the last year."

What did you learn?
"I learned a ton. I thought I knew a lot, but I didn't really know. The coaches taught me different techniques and different plays."

Are you ready to get on the field this season?
"I'm very excited. That's why I came here, to play. I'm ready to get on the field and make some plays."

Have you adjusted to life as a student-athlete?
"I feel like I'm adjusted now. With a whole semester under my belt, I'm more organized with my work, my tutors and my classes."

Talk about the academics staff.
"It's amazing. They've helped me a ton. They are wonderful, want to be here and really help me out."

What was it like going up against All-Big Ten offensive linemen in practice?
"I went out there every day and tried to give the first-teamers a good look. Battling with Dan Feeney, Will Matte and Jason Spriggs, we faced off every day, non-stop."

Who is your roommate?
"H-town (Dimitric Camiel). He's from Texas (Houston), so we have something in common. We have a bond like brothers."

What is your major?
"Exercise science. I plan on going back to my community to help little kids."
