The Peegs.com staff have been hard at work getting you ready for today's game. Here's a rundown of stories related to today's matchup over the past week working back from our latest coverage:
Kevin Wilson and his Indiana football team will attempt to start the season 3-0 when they host Ball State tomorrow night at Memorial Stadium. Peegs.com caught up with Doug Zaleski from The Muncie Star Press to get the latest on a Cardinals' team that comes into the game with a record of 1-1.
When Zack Shaw arrived at Indiana last year he came in as a highly-regarded linebacker, but after spending a year as a redshirt he has made the move to defensive end. Peegs.com spoke with the Ohio native about his new position, and about what has been the biggest difference between high school and college football.
It couldn't have been a hard decision for Indiana to room David Cooper and Jacarri Alexander when the two enrolled at Indiana in January for the spring semester. Both arrived in Bloomington via the junior college route and the duo both play the linebacker spot.
Watch what Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson along with coordinators Kevin Johns and Doug Mallory had to say today at the team's weekly press conference. Wilson updates the media on Tre Roberson's surgery and recovery and looks ahead to the Saturday night rematch with the Ball State Cardinals.
One of the question marks for Indiana heading into the 2012 season was the offensive line but thanks to the infusion of a pair of true freshmen, the Hoosiers are off to a solid start in blocking the opposition. Right guard Dan Feeney and left tackle Jason Spriggs have started both of Indiana's two victories.
Indiana's 45-6 victory over UMass yesterday afternoon came at a steep price. The Hoosiers will be without quarterback Tre Roberson for the rest of the season after he suffered a broken leg early in the second quarter. When Roberson went down the Hoosiers turned to sophomore Cameron Coffman to lead the offense, and they also used true freshman Nate Sudfeld for a handful of snaps in the second half against the Minutemen.
Coming up through the Lawrence Central High School football program, Tre Roberson heard a phrase quite often: "The weak can't handle it," it went. The idea was to convey that bad things happen to good people so they can show everyone how to handle them properly.
