4-star Indiana linebacker has a Spartan offer

One of the top schools in the Midwest when it comes to producing Division 1 talent is Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. Michigan State actively involved with several players from there and has offered 4-star linebacker Tim Kimbrough. SpartanMag.com was able to catch up with the 6-foot-1, 226-pound prospect and got the details on his recruitment.

Warren Central High School was ranked as one of the top teams in the nation for much of the season last fall. Kimbrough, who started only a couple of games as a sophomore burst onto the national scene by tallying 160-tackles in 11 only games.

Kimbrough as an impressive list of scholarships that includes powerhouse programs such as Michigan State, Florida, Arkansas, Penn State and Wisconsin. In all, Kimbrough has close to 20 scholarships already on the table. Spartanmag.com asked him about his Michigan State scholarship.

"I have 17 offers right now, he said. "I spoke with the coaches there (Michigan State) and was offered. I have not been up there yet, but I plan on making some trips this spring to check schools out. I hope to get up there for a spring practice. I also plan on going to Kentucky and Louisville. I also want to get down to Florida."

With a busy schedule of visit s planned Kimbrough indicated that he is not in a hurry to make his college choice and so far no school is leading over others.

"I do not have any favorites yet as I am still trying to learn as much as I can about the schools," Kimbrough stated. "I plan on taking my official visits and then making my decision after my senior year."

Kimbrough attended the best of the Midwest Combine back in February and he impressed those that were in attendance. Rivals.com analysts had the following to say about his performance there:

Big hitters: Just as there is a common theme between Kenney and Daniel, there is also an attribute common between Indianapolis Ben Davis safety Antonio Allen and Indianapolis Warren Central linebacker Tim Kimbrough - they are two of the most devastating hitters in the Midwest in 2013.

Both the 5-foot-10, 200-pound Allen and the 6-1, 216-pound Kimbrough are shorter, stockier players for their position, and a combine setting is not the best showcase for their skill sets, but we walked away more than pleased with what we saw out of both. Allen has a smooth backpedal and Kimbrough looked fluid turning to run with receivers and backs. They always will be known as hitters first, but both showed potential in pass coverage on Monday.

Kimbrough indicated that the Spartan staff likes him for the same reason that many other schools do. He also talked about what he is looking for in a school

"They like my ability to make plays and be physical. I like to compete and have a shot at championships. I want to go to a school where I feel comfortable with the coaches and players and can see myself there for the next 4-years."

SpartanMag.com will be sure to keep in contact with Kimbrough in the coming weeks. The Spartans are expected to have numerous top prospects on campus throughout spring practice and for the Green and White Game. We will be sure to follow-up with Kimbrough and get his thoughts on the Spartan football program and Michigan State University.
