Ingram visiting Iowa soon

Patrick Ingram finished off his AAU season the way every player hopes to, winning a championship. This past weekend, Ingram and his Eric Gordon All Stars squad won their final AAU event together in Ft. Wayne, IN. Now the senior to be guard prospects is getting down to the business of picking a college that he will call home for four years.

"It felt good to go out on top this past weekend, winning the event in Ft. Wayne," Ingram said. "We made the Sweet 16 out in Las Vegas and then we can back to Indiana and ended up winning the whole thing."

The 6-foot-3 guard prospect from Indiana has said all along that he would like to make his college choice before the start of his senior year and that deadline is fast approaching with classes set to start on August 17th. Right now it appears that he might be willing to slightly extend that self imposed deadline.

"I was planning on visiting Iowa on Thursday and then also visit St. Louis and Northern Illinois, but Coach McCaffery is going to be out of town on Thursday, so we will either have to visit Iowa on Wednesday or I might wait until after the 17th when my senior year starts and make an official visit to Iowa," he said Monday evening.

Ingram said he would be talking to his parents about their travel plans, but he still hopes to make his decision before the 17th and if he makes the official to Iowa, then a decision would come shortly after that visit.

"I'm getting kind of anxious to make my college choice," he said. "I want to make this decision so I can focus on my senior year of high school."

As the combo guard prospect makes this final tour of schools, he will be looking for three specific things on those visits.

"I am going to look at the educational side for sure. I want to major in business, so I want to know what each school has to offer in that area. From the basketball side, I want to come in and play and that I will have an opportunity if I come in and work hard. I also want to be fairly close to home."
