The committee went out of its way to state that the award was based upon the hope that Obama has generated around the world. But we typical Americans assume that we are the world, and ignore what the rest of the world thinks.
Until we need the rest of the world to help clean up the many GWB messes....

When his opponents on both the left and right started to throw a freakin' mud slide at him and his campaign? To me, that may be a compelling reason to nominate him. He did all of that before coming into office. It was refreshing to see that approach WORK. Anybody ever thought about that as justification?
And FWIW, I didn't think he deserved it- yet.

I thought, for a moment, to heed the words of Dusto on a similar topic, and simply try to find some positive in it, and be happy for the guy etc, be proud and consider it a honor for the nation, blah blah - I reallyn tried - but the fact is, the guy was only in office for 10 or so days when the nominations went in - what peace did he promote in that time to even be considered for it in the first place?
I wonder how being the recipient of a peace prize is going to affect the request by General McChrystal for additional troops in Afghanistan?

There is no way that Obama can submit the request for more troops. The Peace prize winner submitting more troops to a war.....I cant understand what he has done to warrent this award. I guess going on Al-Jazerra (sp?) was a major peace movement. Well, congrats Mr. President, if this is the litmus for a peace award then we are probably all screwed anyway...

this weekend!
They have some of the funniest commercials around, including Obama voice overs saying he intends to ban "Bullitt County" (where its located), and telling peope to stock up on ammo at Knob Creek "while you still can."
Its definitly one of those places where bitter folks cling to guns and religion! T A church ahd a "bring your gun to church Sunday" and that pastor resigned ths week to have a pro-2nd Amendment career.
