November 5, 2009 A day after winnng impressively over Grace College the Indiana basketball program received some much awaited good news when they learned that freshman center Bawa Muniru has been cleared to play by the NCAA. The news was delivered by coach Tom Crean via his Twitter account. Here is the text of four consecutive Twitter updates: "Moments ago we just learned that Bawa is completely eligible. If you see his smile as wide as it has ever been you will know why." A second update followed from the Hoosier coach:? "Bawa has got so much to learn but the potential is there. He has worked so hard but he has been distracted by all of this uncertainty." The third update from Crean: "Our Coaching staff and every person that works with us in compliance and eligibility went the 2nd mile for Bawa. Alot of paperwork." The final of the four updates: "Mary Ann and her staff were very passionate about seeing this through." Muniru has been practicing with the rest of his IU teammates, but with this news the 6-foot-11, 242-pound center from Durham (NC) Mt. Zion Academy will be able to suit up for the Hoosiers this season. This ensures that Crean and his staff will have all six members of their nationally ranked 2009 recruiting class at their disposal as they go about rebuilding the Indiana program.Link to Coach Tom Crean's Twitter page. |
